MAJOR U.S. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT AGENCIES
The Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism
The Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism (GICNT), co-chaired by the United States and the Russian Federation, is a voluntary partnership of 88 nations and six official international observer organizations that are committed to strengthening global capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to nuclear terrorism. Partners have endorsed a set of core nuclear security principles across the full spectrum of nuclear terrorism deterrence, prevention, detection, and response objectives. To advance this mission, GICNT has conducted more than 100 multilateral activities, including technical experts meetings, scenario-based dialogues, workshops, seminars, tabletop and field exercises, which strengthen the plans, policies, procedures, and interoperability of partner nations. For more information visit: www.GICNT.org
Radioactive materials are routinely transported through all regions of the United States. Isotope Crossroads is a tabletop exercise (TTX) series sponsored by the Department of Energy (DOE)/National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), Office of Radiological Security (ORS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Weapons of Mass Destruction Directorate (WMDD) Nuclear and Radiological Countermeasures Unit (NRCU) that focuses on the security of high-activity radiation sources during transport. Every Isotope Crossroads TTX is custom-designed to meet the objectives of both sponsoring agencies as well as the training objectives of the jurisdiction hosting the exercise. Attended by local, state, and federal law enforcement and emergency response agencies, regulators, public health professionals, and private industry, a fictional threat scenario is developed and presented with the intent to foster team building and information sharing in a "no-fault" atmosphere to encourage and strengthen an integrated response to a malevolent act targeting an over-the-road shipment of Category 1 or 2 radioactive materials.
CORPORATE & NON-SECTOR SPECIFIC
SummitET regularly supports single and regularly offered training-based support to companies and other clients. Our Workplace Violence/Active Shooter training is one of our most popular offerings for corporate clients. SummitET provides customized high-end 360-preparedness solutions and services across the mission areas of protection, prevention, mitigation, and response. It focuses upon threats and incidents involving terrorism, WMD/CBRNE, active-shooter, and workplace violence to help its clients reduce risk and save lives. Its preparedness solutions are easily tailored for clients from the private and public sectors, and state and federal government departments and agencies. To ensure its success, SummitET emphasizes an organizational culture to employ and maintain a specialized and dedicated team that can comprehensively prepare its clients for the threats faced today and ready them against those they may face tomorrow. SummitET is representative of the following communities: Law enforcement, counterterrorism, infrastructure protection/force protection, intelligence, tactical, counter-WMD, counterterrorism, emergency medical/fire rescue, hazardous materials, bomb disposal, and health physics.
These tabletop exercises (TTXs) are designed to help both the public and private sector evaluate and improve response plans, policies, and procedures for a biological-threat/terrorism incident. Attended by private industry, public health, local, state, and federal law enforcement, and emergency response agencies, a notional but highly realistic scenario is developed and presented with the goal of fostering team building and information sharing in a “no-fault” atmosphere in order to encourage and strengthen an integrated response to a bio-threat/terrorism event.
